Kwanza Hall Campaign Fundraiser

March 23, 2009

Dear Friends:

Thank you for coming out to support the "soft" kick off of my campaign. It was truly a memorable event. We had a wonderful host committee, great food, excellent weather and the best group of supporters one could ask for.  I remain humbled by the faith that you have in me.  Thank you again for your continued support.

December 20, 2008

Dear Friends and Supporters:

Growing up with a unique name like Kwanza provided for an interesting childhood. Classmates and teachers alike wondered what it meant. Today, as a public servant, I've found an opportunity to use my name - which means "first" in Swahili - to bring the community together. So on Friday, December 26th, I am hosting Kwanzaa with Kwanza: A Holiday Block Party in the Old 4th Ward.

Why Kwanzaa?

KWANZAA (with two A's) is now a well-known holiday that symbolizes harmony of spirit and diversity. Three decades ago, my parents hosted the city's first KWANZAA celebration at their home, which attracted a large, multi-cultural group - many of whom worked in human rights. My goal is to reignite the flames lit by my parents while giving back. But I need your help to make the event a success.

Won't you please donate $25 or more to the inaugurate this annual community event and fundraiser?

Together, we will celebrate the diversity and harmony of spirit that makes Atlanta a true International city. The night will provide a great opportunity to meet new neighbors and reconnect with old friends.

If you are unable to attend, please show your support by making a contribution of $25 or more and pass along to anyone you know in District 2: Castleberry Hill, Downtown, Sweet Auburn and the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic District, Inman Park, Poncey-Highlands, the Old Fourth Ward, Midtown, Home Park, and the Marietta Artery.

Thank you in advance for your support and I look forward to seeing you on the 26th.

PS. Donate $50 or more and we will send you a limited edition Kwanzaa with Kwanzaa t-shirt.

Retooling the political website

It has been three years since I have spent anytime on my website.  Apologize but I just did not a have a business model for running my city council office and trying to remain political at the same time.  I basically said to myself and my team, If my work on council does not convince people to reelect me, then maybe I don't need to be running again. This will be a journey to go from a very good platform but old model website to a new model utilizing socia networking and blog tools. Stick with me and hang on for the ride.
